The Advisory Council is a recognized group of experts in Reactive Systems, Reactive Programming, Distributed Systems, Stateful Cloud Native Applications, and related fields that support the mission of the Reactive Foundation. Advisory Council members actively contribute and moderate discussions on key Reactive topics. They also act as guides for those just beginning their Reactive journey.
Sergey Bykov was one of the founders of the Orleans project at Microsoft Research and continued to lead its development for over a decade. Before joining Research Sergey had worked in several Microsoft product groups, from BizTalk and Host Integration Server to embedded operating systems for Point of Sale terminals to Bing. The mediocre state of developer tools for cloud services and distributed systems at the time inspired him to join the Orleans project in order to qualitatively improve developer productivity in that area.
Founder of Erlang Solutions Ltd. Francesco has used Erlang on a daily basis since 1995, starting as an intern at Ericsson’s computer science laboratory, the birthplace of Erlang. He moved on to Ericsson’s Erlang training and consulting arm working on the first release of OTP, applying it to turnkey solutions and flagship telecom applications. In 1999, soon after Erlang was released as open source, he founded Erlang Solutions, who have become the world leaders in Erlang based consulting, contracting, training and systems development.
Evan loves to design, build, and improve bleeding edge distributed data and backend systems using the latest in open source technologies. He is the creator of the FiloDB open-source distributed time-series database, as well as the Spark Job Server. He has led the design and implementation of multiple big data platforms based on Storm, Spark, Kafka, Cassandra, and Scala/Akka, including a columnar real-time distributed query engine. He has been an active contributor to the Apache Spark project, and a two-time Datastax Cassandra MVP. He has built Spark applications since Spark 0.8, Cassandra since 0.6.
Ben is a software engineer at Facebook building fleet management systems for its private cloud. Previously, he built software infrastructure for the Netflix API and Edge Services to provide optimized performance for each streaming device and resilience to failure while handling billions of requests. Sergei works at VMware on Project Reactor in Berlin, Germany and, as part of his job, creates tools such as BlockHound and ReactorDebugAgent. He is an active member of the Open Source community, member of the Apache Foundation, co-maintainer of the Testcontainers project, maintainer of docker-java, and a contributor to various OSS projects (Apache Groovy, Testcontainers, JBoss Modules, Spring Boot, to name a few).
Marius is the author of such ideas as Finagle, Zipkin, Your Server is a Function, and many others.
Violeta Georgieva works at VMware and is Reactor Netty lead committer. She is a member of The Apache Software Foundation, a long-time Apache Tomcat committer, and a contributor to various OSS projects (Spring Framework, Netty, CF Java Buildpack etc.). Her passion is to provide technologies which will help web application developers to create scalable and resilient solutions.

Previously I led the Akka project at Lightbend. I also hold a Dr. rer. nat. in particle physics from TU München and have worked in the space industry.
